The Folk Ghetto @ Passing Clouds – Luring Touring Bands to Town.

Bon Débarras’ folk music is deeply rooted in the memory of French-speaking America. On their guitars, banjo, mandolin, accordion, washboard and harmonicas, and integrating foot percussion, jig and body percussion, the trio creates musical atmospheres that transcend boundaries and ages.

The Folk Ghetto is a newly established Folk Music Night for London from the brains behind the groundbreaking BBC Award winning Folk Club The Magpie's Nest (est. 2006) and Ceildh/Barn Dance revivalist outfit Cut A Shine (now in its tenth year). The Folk Ghetto aims to bring the best, quirkiest and highest quality international touring folk, roots and acoustic artists to town and to mix them up with local talent.

We aim to promote the outlandish, the oddities, the obscure and the outright extravagant bands that no “mainstream” promoter would dare. We value outstanding musicianship played on real instruments from any culture, from anywhere – that's what makes it “folk”. From the Appalachian Mountains to Quebec, from Traditional to Experimental, Gypsy to Germanic, Klezmer to Ceilidh – we've got it covered.

The Forge, Camden Town. Acoustically engineered to the highest standard, we believe that this makes the perfect venue for audiences to listen to and really hear this music. The softest pluck, the lightest strum, and the deftest bow - all be heard with the utmost clarity.

We dare our audience to take a sonic journey with us and explore some of the best acoustic folk, roots and world music we can find.

The Forge, 3-7 Delancey St, London NW1 7NL
Two For Joy is the offspring of award winning Folk Club The Magpie’s Nest – awarded BBC Folk Club of 2010. Founded in 2006 by Joe Buirski and Sam Lee, it's motto is ‘New Folk, Old Folk & No Folk’, a regular platform for emerging and established Folk and Roots artists both young and old.
